captain nick sassic orlando fishing guide

Capt. Nick Sassic is a Central Florida native who grew up fishing the waters of the Indian River and Mosquito Lagoon. Although he started out as a light tackle fisherman, his passion for flyfishing soon developed. This began his quest to be the best flyfishing guide in the area. When not guiding, Capt. Nick spends his time on the water following fish patterns and developing different techniques to get fish to eat. When Capt. Nick is not fishing local waters, he enjoys traveling to different locations flyfishing and learning about different species of fish. He has traveled and fished in New Zealand, multiple islands in the Bahamas, Louisiana, South Florida and the Keys.

Capt. Nick is a published writer and has appeared in magazine articles. He is the “On Call” guide to take clients of Fly Fishing in Salt Waters Magazine sight fishing for redfish. Capt. Nick donates guiding to various non profit organizations such as Cystic Fibrosis and the Alzheimer Association & Coastal Conservation Association.

captain scott maccalla orlando fly fishing guide

Captain Scott Mac Calla is a 5th generation native Floridian who has been sight fishing the Mosquito Lagoon, Indian River Lagoon, and Atlantic Ocean for 20 plus years. Scott is proud to say that he is a native of not just Florida but of Titusville, growing up during the Space Shuttle Program boom. With his intimate knowledge of the area and a passion for sight fishing, the former owners of the Fly Fisherman, Frank and Liz Steele, pushed Scott to guide, knowing that guiding is all he wanted to do from an early age.

Just as Capt. Nick does, Scott has spent countless days traveling and perfecting his craft. Capt. Scott has been very fortunate and has been able to fish some exotic species and exciting locations including: Venezuela for billfish and Peacock Bass, Mexico for bonefish and permit, the fabled Dean River system in British Columbia for wild west coast steelhead, several islands in the Bahamas for bonefish, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Idaho for trout, through out Florida and the Keys, and Louisiana redfish.

Capt. Scott has been featured in Salt Water Sportsman and other publications. Capt. Scott donates his time and fishing charters to many non-profit organizations including Cystic Fibrosis, Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, Coastal Conservation Association, Give Kids the World, and others. Capt. Scott feels fortunate to be able to give back.
